Born in Brooklyn, raised in Rockland County and currently living on Long Island, Dr. Jerry Frenkel has always maintained a strong New York connection and presence. His professional and academic career started while attending Touro College of Arts and Sciences in Brooklyn, NY where his passion was always his love for the sciences earning him the excellence in Biology Award at his undergraduate commencement. After graduating with his Bachelor's in Biology, he went on to pursue his dream of becoming a medical doctor at New York Medical College in Valhalla, New York. During his undergraduate training, and medical training, he spent many hours in the exhilarating and stimulating environment of the Emergency Department and found his calling; to become an Emergency Medicine Physician.
He proceeded to do his Emergency Medicine at NewYork-Presbyterian Queens where his strong work ethic, easy disposition and clever intellect earned him the prestigious title of Chief Resident. Loving patient centered care, medical education and clinical ultrasound; he completed a fellowship in Clinical Ultrasound at NewYork-Presbyterian Queens and is board certified in both Emergency Medicine and Advanced Emergency Medicine Ultrasonography. Dr Frenkel currently holds the positions of Attending Physician and Administrative Director of Emergency Ultrasound at NewYork-Presbyterian Queens; as well as Clinical Instructor of Emergency Medicine, Weill Cornell Medical College.
Amanda Tinkelman, MD was named a Rising Star by the New York Times in their Top Doctors edition (2016-2019). She previously served as Associate Director of Adult Ambulatory Services as well as the Physician in Charge of Perinatal Programs at Northwell Health’s Zucker Hillside Hospital. She was honored to be a member of Northwell’s Physician High Potential program from 2013-2015. She previously served as the Medical Director of Community Counseling Services of West Nassau, an OASAS substance abuse clinic. She also served as Medical Director of an independent mental health practice catering to individuals with complex needs and treatment resistance, facilitating the growth of a robust Spravato treatment program as well as supporting multiple specialty treatment teams. She served as the Director of the Partial Hospitalization Program at The Motherhood Center. She has received training in MBT, dTMS, and psychedelic assisted psychotherapy.
Dr. Tinkelman is currently the Physician in Charge of the Perinatal Center at the Zucker Hillside Hospital, and an Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at the Donald and Barbara Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell. She has served as an instructor for the Perinatal Psychopharmacology portion of the Postpartum Support International certificate course, and presented numerous lectures at PSI’s annual conferences, as well as in local Grand Rounds and CME/CEU granting forums on perinatal mental health, including on the treatment of perinatal substance use disorders. She was honored to participate in the development of the first-ever certification exam in perinatal mental health, developed by PSI. Strongly valuing team-based care, Dr. Tinkelman strives to foster collaborative mental health teams in every setting she has had the privilege to work.
Akiva Perlman, PhD., is a professor, lecturer on topics of abuse, addiction, and trauma, and fellow traveler for those suffering in silence. He has educated more than a thousand frum social workers from our community and is currently serving as professor at Wurzweiler School of Social work. Dr. Perlman is the clinical director of ODA’s Wellness Center, a clinic which serves the chasideshe community in Williamsburg. He maintains a practice on Long Island where he resides with his wife Tamar and children.
Daniel Hernandez, PMHNP-BC, is a Board-Certified Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with a Master’s degree from the University of Rochester. He provides thoughtful, personalized care to individuals across the lifespan, with a clinical focus on treating a wide range of mental health conditions, including depression, anxiety, PTSD, ADHD, OCD, bipolar disorder, and sleep disturbances. Daniel also supports patients struggling with chronic stress, emotional dysregulation, and the psychological impact of trauma or life transitions.
Daniel is committed to a holistic and integrative approach to psychiatry, combining evidence-based medication management with psychotherapy principles, lifestyle interventions, mindfulness, and cutting-edge treatments like ketamine therapy and psychedelic-assisted modalities. Fluent in English and Spanish, Daniel provides culturally competent care, aiming to empower patients to lead fulfilling lives.
Melisa Cubala, MSN, APN, PMHNP-BC, is a Board-Certified Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with a master’s degree in nursing as a psych-mental health nurse practitioner. Having worked in oncology, neurology, surgery, and orthopedics, she noticed many patients struggled with chronic pain and treatment-resistant depression. Upon discovering ketamine’s transformative effects Melisa recognized the need to provide patients with this vital service in Northern New Jersey. Malisa is also trained in IV nutritional therapy, focusing on holistic well-being. Her mission is to improve patients’ lives through innovative treatments.
